KARTHIK Kumar, one of India’s rising voices in stand-up comedy, is bringing his latest show to Malaysia. Among the topics ‘Aansplaining’ will address are male privilege, the complexity of relationships and sexuality. The show will be performed at RexKL, Kuala Lumpur tonight.
The Indian actor-turned-stand-up-comic has been featured on Amazon Prime through his shows ‘Bloody Chutney’ and ‘Trollerance.’ He is no stranger to the film industry with blockbuster credits to his name, like ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ which premiered earlier this year.
‘Aansplaining’ is Karthik’s fourth comedy production. The Chennai-based comedian is set to interrogate masculinity in the 21st century and talk about not just acknowledging the privileges of his gender, but actively becoming an ally to women.
Karthik has toured extensively over the world, having performed in more than 500 shows across India, US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Singapore with his previous specials.
According to the show’s producer, Ratna Kumar Nadarajan of Mojo Projects, Karthik is most comfortable on stage.
“Having watched him in India, I knew we had to bring him here to Malaysia. In ‘Aansplaining’, you will see Karthik maneuver through the complexity of relationships, as well as the privileges and challenges that come with being a man,” he added.
Tickets to ‘Aansplaining’ are available at www.excitix.com.my, or at the venue, or alternatively, contact 012-2000505 for further information. – The Vibes, November 4, 2022
