Retro Rahman 2.0, its second tribute concert to music maestro A.R. Rahman. Took
place on 3rd August 2019 at StarXpo Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The night started with
pianist Anil Srinivasan, the musical direction of the stellar entertainer, and the
energetic Mani & Band ensemble (Vijay TV Airtel Super Singer) featuring Nikhil Ram
on flutes. Mano, a professional vocal modulator, hit the show out of the park with
Aathangara Marame for Kizhakku Seemaiyile, a tune that is forever embedded in the
minds of Rahman fans. In contrast, Srinivas has been honored by Maana Madurai in
Minsaara Kanavu’s hit musical direction, followed by En Uyire in Mani Ratnam’s
Uyire (Dil Se’s tamil version). Sadhana Sargam , one of the very few Indian singers
with her interpretations of her songs exceeded Rahman’s expectations. The film
Water, made by Rahman, in which she sang three songs, were her most highly
acclaimed songs: Aayo Re Sakhi , Piya Ho and Naina Neer. In the award-winning
film Indira at the age of 15, Rahman approached Harini to sing Nila Kaigirathu. She
has sung more than 2,000 songs in Tamil including the Indian Telephone Manipol
and Hello the Iruvar’s Mr Edhirkatchi. Satyaprakash’s contribution to award winning
songs, such as Nallai Allai’s film Veliyidai and Aalaporan Thamizhan to the film
Mersal, his steady growth was guaranteed and his mellifluous voice ; making waves
in the process.
